Other:

Flameproofing: Canvas and muslin can be purchased already flameproofed, but if the scenery has been washed for reuse, the canvas will have to be flameproofed again. A mixture of one pound of sal ammoniac, one pound of borax, and three quarts of water is an inexpensive flameproofing formula. It is brushed or sprayed onto previously dampened material for the best results. Sheer materials, such as scrim or bobbinet, should be dipped to ensure successful flameproofing. Because flameproofing mixture is highly corrosive to metals, brushes and spray cans should, after use, be washed thoroughly in cold water. A small amount of acetic acid in the water helps to counteract the corrosive action.
