2nd Annual Canadian Idol Top 3 Tour Announced

Tickets are on sale now for two performances at the Centre for the Arts on Thursday, December 18/08 and Friday, December 19/08!

Youve seen them on TV. Now you can see them live. CTV announced last night that Canadian Idols final three competitors will head out on a 29-date, cross-country concert tour this fall. Featuring The Top 3 Finalists Theo Tams, Mitch McDonald and Drew Wright, the tour promises to deliver an amazing concert experience for fans of all ages. Tickets for the concert tour went on sale last night following the two-hour, star-studded Canadian Idol season finale featuring performances by Mariah Carey, John Legend, Brian Melo, Hedley and Jully Black (who performs on Thursday, November 20/08 at Centre for the Arts).

The Top 3 concert tour begins Sunday, Nov. 9 in Fredericton, NB and visits cities in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta before wrapping up in Hamilton on Dec. 22. The concerts will feature favourite songs performed this season onIdol as well as the winners single and one original composition from each of the Top 3. The three singers will perform together, in combinations and alone, backed by a superb live band that includes some of this countrys premiere musicians. It's no surprise that Canadian Idol winner Theo Tams considers Mother Teresa a role model in his life. At only 22 years old, he has already spent time overseas in India, volunteering at an orphanage, and considers it to be his biggest accomplishment in life. Theo came to Toronto's Top 200 audition this year and was blown away by the talent around him. "I remember being speechless during the Toronto week, wondering how the judges were going to find a Top 22 from all this talent. Theo found his niche by bringing a unique, self-assured performance style to the table which has always been supported by his friends and family. "When I perform, I am giving 100% of myself and what I stand for as an artist."

Mitch MacDonald hails from the town of Port Hood in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. A carpenter and musician, 22-year-old Mitch is the youngest of seven children and enjoys hockey, songwriting and playing guitar. "Being a full-time musician involves a lot of hard work," Mitch says, but he's ready to rise to the challenge of his first major tour. Mitch admires the career of fellow East Coast musician Gordie Sampson, and hopes that Canadian Idol will bring him similar successes. "Canadian Idol helps artists who may not have the funds to get their name out there and gives them a huge window of opportunity to do just that."

Hailing from Collingwood, ON, Drew Wright, 28, describes his hometown as a tightly-knit community that represents itself with class - a virtue he has embodied throughout Season 6 of Canadian Idol. "A contestant from Central Ontario has never won Idol. If I was the first to win and representing Collingwood, it really would be an honour." Drews approach to performing is simple, "I am going to give people the best that I can give each night. I won't hold anything back and I think thats what's moved people so far. Why change?" Drew, who has an Honours diploma in Music Production and Engineering, is a huge fan of Jeff Buckley and admires the longevity of bands and artists like The Beatles, "They stayed creative, innovative and always pushed their limits as artists."

Gold Circle Tickets which include premium seating and a Meet and Greet with The Top 3 are $55 and regular tickets are $29.50. Both performances begin at 7:30 p.m. sharp in the Sean O'Sullivan Theatre.
