Written and performed with unflinching honesty, sensitivity and a lightness of touch, the play explores the struggles and celebrations of the many challenges life throws in our path.

An absolute unique experience. A memoir transferred to the stage with the author at the centre of the production a standard of excellence I haven't seen for ages. Thank you for reminding me of the connection between personal storytelling and good theatre. (Chronicle Herald)

Part of the GREAT CANADIAN PLAY series. Proudly presenting powerful and critically acclaimed touring theatre - hand picked from across the country.

In the Soil: NIAGARA'S HOMEGROWN ARTS FESTIVAL now accepting artist proposals

Five local arts organizations have seeded the first annual In the Soil: Niagara's Homegrown Arts Festival. This is the Niagara region's first multi-disciplinary, juried arts festival intending to showcase the outstanding original creative talents of artists from, or with a close connection to the Niagara region. In the Soil is now accepting artist proposals for its festival on April 17-24, 2009, which includes a special juried showcase at the Centre for the Arts, Brock University on April 23, 2009.

The seed for this festival was first planted when Centre for the Arts looked to revive a showcase of local talent it once hosted called Niagara Weave. Deb Slade, Director of Centre for the Arts, says The event has since planted roots in the community and grown beyond the capacity of what the Centre can present in one performance. It will now be a 7-day festival scheduled throughout downtown St. Catharines.

Artist applications are available for download at www.inthesoil.on.ca and will close on January 30, 2009.

Brock Universitys School of Fine and Performing Arts to be named after this celebrated artist and philanthropist.

Renowned Canadian fibre artist Marilyn Walker has donated $15 million to Brock Universitys School of Fine and Performing Arts the largest donation the University has ever received. The gift is particularly remarkable as it is made in a climate marked by economic uncertainty and waning support for the arts.

Marilyn Walker is an award-winning fibre artist, author, teacher and philanthropist; she is also an active supporter of the arts and arts education across Canada, and at Brock University in particular. In tribute to the artist, Brock will re-name its Arts School the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.
