LOCAL MUSICIANS Mark Lalama, Penner McKay and Rich Moore join Jazz Vocalist of the Year

Individually, local favourites Mark Lalama, Rich Moore and Penner McKay have been long been sought-after live and studio session musicians which has taken them through countless performances and around the world. You have undoubtedly and unwittingly heard and seen them locally or their contributions on film, television, radio and with artists such as Marc Jordan, Michael McDonald, Guido Basso, Jann Arden, Anne Murray, Dan Hill, New World Sun and Bon Jovi.

Together as Accordion Crimes they use traditional instruments in untraditional settings to create a uniquely special musical experience. A bed of exotic global percussion melds seamlessly with an adventurous double bass, while accordion and piano melodies surf above. Sometimes described as gypsy jazz, the resulting musical offspring can easily claim Mediterranean, Latin, soul, jazz, Cajun, and even Fellini-esque Carnival, as its roots.

Accordion Crimes join National Jazz Female Vocalist Of The Year and current Jazz chart topper Emilie-Claire Barlow on Friday, April 24/09.
